Allu Arun’s new movie Pushpa: The Rise inspired many trends on social media, from Srivalli to “antava oo antava”. However, no one predicted that some might get inspired to smuggle sandalwood after seeing Pushpa.

Inspired by the movie, a Bengaluru-based driver attempted to smuggle red sandalwood worth 2.45 cr in his truck; he loaded the truck with red sandalwood first and then put fruits and vegetable cartons on it. He also stuck a sticker of COVID-19 essential products on the vehicle.

This trick helped him cross the Karnataka border without difficulty, but he was caught in the Sangli district in Maharashtra.

The police, who had already got information about smuggling, started checking all the vehicles and finally arrested the driver. They seized the sandalwood worth 2.54cr and the truck worth 10lakh.

Each movie inspires different trends on social media, but this is the first time someone got inspired and tried to commit such a unique crime.
